In the face of difficult moments, can we be supple, strong and grounded? Can we remain connected to the well of peace inside?

The practice of breath-focused meditation helps to develop these abilities. It gives us the opportunity to navigate the choppy waters of life and find clarity. As Margie was taught, meditation is
a practice of return — return to ourselves, return to our natural state of vibrancy, and return to our connection with others and the greater whole.

In our fast-paced world, it can be difficult to find stillness. Some people decide that meditation isn’t for them because “it’s too hard”, but as one of Margie’s teachers says, “If you can breathe, you can meditate.”

This Meditation Audio Series is for the beginner and the advanced. However the advanced know one is always a beginner on this path.

Start this series from the beginning to gradually increase the amount of time we sit in silence — or pick a meditation at random. Either way, you’ll be blessed with rich, contemplative quotes from Margie’s favorite teachers, her simple (yet profound and often poetic) reflections, and gentle guidance into a sitting meditation practice.

Like a well tended garden, returning to ourselves - again and again - is where equanimity can flourish.

About the Teacher

Margie Gordon, RYT, CMT began her study of meditation in 2004 with Elesa Commerse. She became a Certified Meditation Teacher (CMT) and has been teaching nationally and in England since 2012. Margie earned her certification as a yoga instructor (RYT) in 2003 and taught for 12 years. In addition to being
a guest practitioner at re:fit, she serves as Co-Director of Touching Earth, a mindfulness learning center just north of Chicago.

Her quest for understanding the individual vis-à-vis society began at The University of Pennsylvania where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa.)  To ground her practice of yoga and meditation, Margie traveled to France in 2014 to participate in The Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh’s last public retreat, ‘What Happens When We Die?’ During a walking meditation session there, Thich Nhat Hanh invited her to hold the mindfulness bell with him, hand in hand.  It became a seminal moment on her mindfulness path.

Margie leads with a life of service to individuals and humankind. She demonstrates something often overlooked: in order to promote peace, one must cultivate peace. If you get the chance to connect with Margie, you will likely feel what this means.

Margie explores facets of our everyday life

"Like a jeweler exploring facets of a gem to reflect light, Margie explores facets of our everyday life and reflects them back to us so we can see and experience them in a relaxed and calm fashion. Your day will be enriched and you will see your life just a bit more clearly at the end of each session."

A shift in my emotional responses and ability to be patient

"I’ve listened to 4 meditations so far (1 per day), and I’m noticing a shift in my emotional responses and ability to be patient in my interpersonal interactions. I’ve also found the gentle guidance into silence to be very easy for me to follow and to find mental and physical ease - relative to other meditation teachers I’ve listened to. I plan to continue listening to 1 audio per day as I’m noticing very positive benefits!"

So kind, gentle, compassionate and inspiring

"I look forward to this necessary practice! Margie is so kind, gentle, compassionate and inspiring!  She is knowledgeable, on point, and is creative in her approach! She brings a smile to my face, tears to my eyes and a peaceful place in my heart! Grateful...Thankful... is an understatement!”

Margie balances quiet with insightful commentary

"Margie’s thoughtful guidance sets the tone for a positive meditative experience. Building on a variety of quotes, she expands the narrative to fit the moment. Margie balances quiet with insightful commentary throughout the session. This allows each individual to grow at their own pace. I value the time I spend meditating with her."

I’ve always had trouble quieting my mind and meditating...

"Meditating with Margie twice a week has been an amazing experience for me. I’ve always had trouble quieting my mind and meditating... Margie seems to have given me just the right mix of words and quiet so that I’m actually able to sit with it and participate and feel the benefits...I have been listening every morning (to recorded sessions) and it has really helped start my day in a better place."

I have learned a great deal from this class

"I found, and continue to find, a great deal of peace in these 30 minute sessions. Margie's calming inspirational readings enable me to turn off my emotional engines as the periods of silence take me to a calm, introspective place. I have learned a great deal from this class."
